If you feel anxious, do this…

A useful guide for when you feel “out of blue”.


#thoughtoftheday: We can be certain that sooner or later uncertainty will knock on our doors..and heads. It can drive you nuts and make you question your course of action. In case this sounds familiar, here are some tips I find useful:


🧘‍♀️ Often we ask ourselves the “what if” questions that throw our anxiety through the roof. As controversial as it sounds, imagine your worst case scenario. Having a clear plan of action will give you some confidence.


🧘‍♀️ Do a reality check. Most likely your worst fears are highly unlikely to manifest.


🧘‍♀️ Many things are out of our control, but some of them actually are within our scope of action. Realize what you can do. If you are scared about your health, work on improving it. If you are scared to lose your job, work on your options. If you are fearing to lose your business, think what you can do to avoid it. These actions will improve your chances for a successful outcome and will make you feel proactive.


🧘‍♀️ Seek guidance, but be choosy whom you listen to. Serious anxiety deserves a competent treatment. Allow yourself to feel and accept your emotions. If you feel that your family and friends are not fulfilling your emotional needs, turn to professional help. There is absolutely nothing “weird” or “weak” about that. Knowing your needs and acting upon them is a superpower.


🧘‍♀️ Realize that it is not your job to know what will happen in an hour, a day, a month, quarter, year, 5 years… it’s not. Your job is to be and do your best, to realize your potential, learn and become a valuable asset to society.


🧘‍♀️ Get active. Exercise is the key to happiness. Choose whatever you like. No, you don’t have to start jogging, biking or yoga-ing to follow a trend. Select what challenges you and provides a feeling of accomplishment and joy.


🧘‍♀️ And finally, BE GRATEFUL. Remember the times when you prayed to have what you have now and to be where you are today. Having a sense of perspective is essential.
